salam ualaikum syifa’,
i’ve promised myself for my turn i would do one post each week for d month. but ive been busy. so im now planing to do 4 posts by b4 may ends. so heres entry #2.
i would like to share some management tips [read: aim to achieve muntij, kan?] ive picked up from my engineering course. well, 4 years (almost) of studying, grappling with the craziness of it all must account for sumthing, ryte? myte as well share it here, if not for anyone else, at least for my future reference lol.
design groups: these mean proper management, teamwork and liquidity and transparency in terms of info and idea sharing. if ur working towards a common goal, d only way forward is of course to share wuteva skills, research or tips gained from life experiences, with ur groupmates. d conveyance of it in a clear, constructive, non threatening nor non disrespecting manner is key. bcoz at the end of d day, d group decides for d best step to approach in the next design stage. not an individual; it wud b called design work and not design groups if tht were d case, just as much as d name speaks for itself. timelines are outlined and agreed upon by all. tardiness is spoken against, and a cake was chosen as a token of redemption given a member does come late or cant make it/ be committed for tht submission . in fact, in our team contract, any personal issues however unrelated it may seem must be laid bare for all to know. by doing this, no unnecessary problems due to personal issues bcomes probable. thts theoretically speaking laaa if i may add so myself. point of matter is -> direct clear good communication + unity in approach and goal + effort of all = group success
management303_paper: there were many great pointers tht i learnt from this paper. i must say i enjoyed d content of d course. it was so practical, in tht it defined everything clearly. References can be found at Auckland Uni Learn Website : search management303. amongst the ones i hold on to are : definitions of leaders&managers , creative approaches to cater for clients and business management , Gaant Charts and accounting makes u realise d reality of costings! which i , ur beloved author of dis post, was ignorant of. Ignorance is sooooooo not bliss!
final year project: tamaki in memory 4eva! i am doing composite materials, goign to centre for advanced composite materials (cacm) in tamaki whenever i hv tyme. learning the hard way all d practical insights i lack. learn to be independent and know when to ask for help when u need it. knowing d importance of always keeping safety first over research. knowing how to comprehend getting barked/scolded/looked down at, for the love of pursuing the aim of getting the most out of d project. thanks sv prof richard lin! thanks co-sv dr zaki! thanks jos geurts! warm thanks steve! big chunk of thanks to callum! thanks oli! thanks peterL and peter zhu! wow, d list goes on and on. above all, thank you Allah for giving all these experiences for me to tread on.
committing to an engineering workload; if InshaAllah i succeed in getting d degree, ill comment more on this one. till then lemme just say tht d busier u are, usually d more tyme conscious u get. d more valuable tyme is tht every little thing bcomes crucial. u suddenly hv d ability to cook in half an hour one complete meal. u suddenly allocated tyme to call ur mom more persistently. u suddenly wake up to qiam coz u crave for His attention on to u, to hear you out when ur feeling so lifeless afta it all gets to ur nerves and emo state starts bubbling at a weird rate. suddenly? naaaah. it was all within His plans. His lessons on to u to b a better person. hope YOU’ll istiqamah!!!!!
read between d lines n you’ll c im not just crapping up sumthing for d sake of filling up a post. and pray unto Him the way we look at things r from our hearts and souls connected with the strong rope of faith towards Him the Ever Compassionate and Merciful.
Wallahua’alam+Wassalam
